In a city that supposedly doesn’t sleep, how come every store closes early? Like why does Staples close at 8 o’clock every night, and why doesn’t the drug store stay open 24 hours a day? And why do all the post offices have last pickup at 6 o’clock? I mean, it’s great that all of the bars are open until 4, but what if I need something–anything–other than an alcoholic drink between the hours of 8 in the evening and 4 in the morning?
That’s why you need to move to Vancouver. Tim Horton’s Donuts and Shopper’s Drug Mart are open 24 hours, London Drugs (which sells camera and computer stuff, as well as kitchen stuff, food, and tons of other stuff) is open until 10pm. Benny’s Bagels and The Naam, our favourite vegetarian restaurant, are open 24 hours. Most of the shops and cafes on Denman Street stay open until 10 or 11 pm, especially on the weekend. Post offices? Forget it. They’re almost as bad as banks that way.
You have a bagel place that’s open 24 hours? That’s awesome! Actually, we have many delis in the area that are open 24 hours, and they have bagels, but I suspect that a place dedicated to bagels would have fresh bagels.
Man, be glad for what you have. In England, shops close really early and open pretty late.
